This past season, Moncks Corner native Will Jones was named the MEAC basketball coach of the year, and he wasn’t even the head coach of NC A&T.

He was the interim head coach, only coaching half of a season.

It’s been 3 long months of waiting, but finally, he’s got the head coaching job.

“Dream come true. Unbelievable. Small town dreams, being from Moncks Corner, set the standards high, trust the process, patience was the key.” says Jones.

It’s pretty cool for Jones that his first job as a head coach is at the largest Historically Black College and University in the world. Not to mention, his first day officially on the job is Juneteenth.

“During this time. We all have to do more education. I had to go back and do the research, see what that meant. For me, its an exciting day to talk about where we’ve come from, and where we’re going. This time in our society is time for education and reflection. We need to reflect on whats going on, and educate ourselves so we can make better decisions and forge forward,” he said.
